My first Portland Show!

For the opening I will be drawing people's favorite object and/or what they bought today and/or a receipt in their wallet for FREE! First come first serve. I promise to draw until my hand cramps and a smile is on every face.

Also, I am checking out for awhile to prepare for my How Presentation and for this show!

Portland State AND Mississippi State in HOW Magazine

Portland State Graphic Design Program In HOW

PSU was listed as one of three design schools that should be on your radar. My old school Mississippi State was also listed and my former student/intern Will Bryant was listed as one of the 17 rising stars in the issue as well.

Got to say, pretty proud and pretty pumped about this.

HOW Conference * Webby Illustrations * Jen Bekman Group Show * Dialogue

Not a Daily Drawing: Work for The Webby Awards and w+k

Mike Relm via Mike Relm's Phone at the Webby Awards Tonight.

So I have been working with a team over at Wieden + Kennedy the past month or so on illustrations for the Webby Award Book that was handed out at the awards ceremony tonight. I haven't seen the actual book yet, but thanks to Twitter search I found this photo snapped by Mike Relm saying that it is the best drawing of him ever. SWEET! I also drew Jimmy Fallon, Trent Reznor, Sarah Silverman, Lisa Kudrow, Seth Meyers, Biz Stone, Evan Williams and Seth MacFarlane. Can't wait to see the actual book!

Design*Sponge / Handmade Nation / School / BRB

Design*Sponge Sneak Peek!

Just peeking my head above water a bit to say hello and to let you know that there will be drawing updates this weekend. I am still getting a grip on my classes and this quarter at school and am now recovering from the big Handmade Nation events of this past weekend. Yikes! Just a few things of note: Our apartment was featured on design*sponge last week. Here is a full set of the photos over on flickr too.

OH! and the Museum of  Contemporary Craft is showcasing all of my original drawings from the Handmade Nation Book in their community showcase case. It will be up until the 18th!

One last thing...check out the flickr set that the museum put together of everyone showing off their handmade at the movie screenings...super fun! ----> SHOW US YOUR DIY!

Also, three cheers for the internet AND the Portland Design and Craft community for being so damn generous with the donations for the Handmade Nation Friday Night Swag Bags.

Check out most of what went into the bags here!

More information and a full list of the bag participants here!

Helping organize this has been such a great experience and I truly truly love the Museum of Contemporary Craft and the people who work there!

Check out the rad Contemporary Projects class that I am going to be teaching tomorrow at 9 in the morning. I will post links to my Typography and Digital Imaging classes soon (I teach those on Tuesday, so I still have time to prep, RIGHT? - not enough time, my friends, not enough time).

Design for Mankind: Dialogue // How Does Your Family React to Your Work?
The lovely Erin over at Design for Mankind posted up the latest Dialogue episode.

Happy to be sharing the screen with Erin, Meighan O'Toole from My Love For You is a Stampede of Horses and Will Bryant - super friend and former student/intern extraordinary!

Today I am working on catching up! Working on a map of the Hamptons for Madewell, then grading and then school prepping for the new quarter which starts a week from today! Also, need to work on some illustrations for the Portland Handmade Nation events! Soon! Soon! Oh! and I need to assemble and send out the February zines (just got some new toner in, so the production is no longer on hold). Wait, this post is turning into a to-do list and that is just no fun for anyone to read. Okay, back to work!

Shiny Happy People

Faye Dunaway is Bonnie Parker

Miss Bonnie drawn for the Dallas Map.

I went through all of my Madewell work and isolated all of the people in attempts to get me jazzed about drawing more PEOPLE as well as purchased objects. However, no purchase needed when I draw people.

That would be WEIRD. In many ways that I choose to NOT go into.
